During spring break I volunteered for a couple of hours with Grassroots Ecology. We restored Habitat at the McClellan Ranch Preserve. We had pull out the weeds and non-native plants so that the native plants could have a chance to grow again. I learned so much about helping ecosystem recover following damage and degradation.
There were many people who volunteered with their children. Look at the mound of weeds and non-native plants we managed to pull out. It is a wonderful way to spend a holiday or weekend while learning about our habitats. Here is the link to signup for future events – Grassroots Ecology. It is very easy to signup. The docents are very knowledgeable and friendly. You will have a great time.
